Police are continuing to investigate the death of a man in a Kaitaia supermarket carpark but are no longer treating it as a homicide.
Pak 'n Save staff found the body of a co-worker in his car about 8.30am on Thursday. The St John Ambulance service was called but he
had already died.
Police closed off part of the carpark for the day while about 10 detectives and frontline officers carried out an investigation.
Detective Senior Sergeant Rhys Johnston said a post-mortem examination in Auckland yesterday had confirmed the police view of what had happened.
Police were not looking for anyone else and the matter would be referred to the coroner.
