Justice Edwin Wylie warned a jury a photo booklet showing the injuries to Jack Davis were graphic and they were not required to look at them for any length of time, during a murder trial at the High Court in Whangarei yesterday.
The jury of six women and six men were also told they could take a break if needed after looking at the injuries to the 30-year-old Aucklander.
The two men charged with the murder of Mr Davis are Wayne James Bracken, 35, and Neville Joseph Dangen, 24. Mr Davis died on February 25, 2011 - a day after it is believed he was kidnapped, had his limbs bound together, and was kept overnight in a woolshed on a farm belonging to Dangen on Salvation Rd, near Kaeo. His body was found on a remote bush track on the northern side of the Whangaroa Harbour.
Bracken faces additional charges of aggravated robbery, assault with intent to injure and unlawfully entering a building, all relating to separate events between January 1 and February 25, 2011.
Dangen faces a charge of receiving a boat worth in excess of $1000, between January 1 and February 25, 2011.
