Broadcaster John Markby has marked 30 years on air in Northland with his workmates surprising him with a special on-air tribute show.
It featured former co-hosts and community figures.
Mr Markby began his radio career in 1983 in Whanganui and started at Radio Northland - now The Hits Northland - in 1986, where he worked for 13 years.
He then moved to More FM for 17 years - including 15 with Angela "Flash" Gordon.
In 2014 Mr Markby received the Queen's Service Medal (QSM) for services to the community and as a broadcaster, and was honoured with a Services to Broadcasting Award at this year's NZ Radio Awards.
