Broadcaster John Markby has marked 30 years on air in Northland with his workmates surprising him with a special on-air tribute show.
It featured former co-hosts and community figures.
Mr Markby began his radio career in 1983 in Whanganui and started at Radio Northland - now The Hits Northland -in 1986, where he worked for 13 years.
He then moved to More FM for 17 years - including 15 with Angela "Flash" Gordon.
In 2014 Mr Markby received the Queen's Service Medal (QSM) for services to the community and as a broadcaster, and was honoured with a Services to Broadcasting Award at this year's NZ Radio Awards.
He has used his position and high profile to promote and fundraise for a wide range of charitable and not-for-profit organisations in Northland.
Mediaworks Northland general manager Erena Miller said Mr Markby has been a constant and influential voice within the Northland community since 1986.
"John cares hugely about the community he lives in and has held the privileged position of sharing many highlights in the lives of his audience during the last three decades."
