A mother and daughter trapped in the back seat of a wrecked car had to be cut out using the jaws of life, after a serious crash.
Dargaville Volunteer Fire Service station officer Jason Campbell said the car with four occupants left State Highway 12 near Aranga, 40km north of Dargaville, just before 3pm on Saturday.
Two women, believed to be mother and daughter, were trapped in the car when the fire services arrived, Mr Campbell said.
After the women had been assessed by paramedics, the fire service used the jaws of life to extract them from the vehicle, which had ended up in a farmer's paddock.
A third person was in the vehicle but was not trapped, Mr Campbell said. He had remained in the car as he would have had to climb over the women to get out.
