McLeod said talks earlier in the week provided a target for his girls to attain, especially after letting goal-scoring opportunities go to waste in previous weeks.
"We talked about outcomes in the attacking 22 - that was a real focus for us [because] that builds pressure."
As a result of leaving nothing to waste, Springfield's Kelsey Eaton, Jade McLeod and Alana Millington stood up in their roles and this helped the rest of the team link up well on the path to a large victory.
In other premier women's hockey matches, ChillTech Old Girls also cashed in with a win after a resounding 7-1 victory over Whangarei Girl's High School (WGHS).
Taking advantage of their strong bench and ability to rotate, Old Girls made light work of WGHS despite the Girls' High side being one of the in form teams so far this season.
"[It was] very convincing, WGHS have been playing well," Old Girls coach Alan Lints said.
Lints commented that being able to rotate his bench helped momentum stick and therefore produced the "best game of the season" for his number one ranked team.
Real Deal Maungakaramea toppled Echonorth Mangapai, 8-0, to better their position on the premier leaderboard.
Despite the hefty loss, Mangapai coach Richard Redfearn said the result was not a bad one given the recent form of Maungakaramea.
