"These Tournaments will bring the best hockey players in New Zealand to Whangarei for the NHL (Regionally based) and the National Seniors (Association Based) so the profile for hockey will be great."

McLeod thinks the Northland sides will need to put in a huge effort during the NHL.
"Mens team is a young side but we are looking at improved results from previous years. Women's team is quite well balanced but will need to take their goal scoring opportunities," he said.
"They will miss their Blacksticks from last year."
Sky Sport coverage will be on September 17, broadcasting both the men's and women's bronze finals and grand finals, beginning at 9:30am.
Meanwhile, both the Northland men and women had a difficult start to their NHL campaign.
The men lost 2-0 to Auckland after a scoreless first half.
Northland put up a good battle but ultimately succumbed, with two goals coming after the break.
Guy Borren scored in the 40th minute and Jonty Keany clinched the win with a 54th minute strike.
The women also fell to Auckland, losing 3-0 in similar circumstances.
Northland valiently battled throughout a scoreless first half, but Auckland piled on three goals in the second half.
Anna Wetherall opened the scoring with a field goal in the 33rd minute, which was followed by a Nicola McDonnell goal in the 53rd minute.
Auckland wrapped up the contest with a goal from a penalty corner by Melissa Simpson.
