The Breast Cancer Foundation's annual Pink Ribbon Appeal is just over a month away, but people are desperately needed in Northland to co-ordinate the street collections.
The foundation has put out an urgent call for Pink Ribbon Appeal co-ordinators in Northland, with a number of areas, including Hikurangi, Kaitaia, Kaiwaka, Kohukohu, Ohaeawai, Okaihau, Pukenui, Tikipunga, Waimamaku, Omapere and Wellsford, in need.
This year's Pink Ribbon Appeal is on Friday, October 13 and Saturday, October 14.
Throughout the country the foundation needs 9000 volunteers plus co-ordinators to help with the street appeal.
About 140 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Northland every year and last year's appeal raised $32,686 in the region.
The appeal sees about 400 volunteers at about 50 sites in Northland and they need 30 co-ordinators but this year's appeal is short of 11 co-ordinators.
