The wreckage of a helicopter that plunged into dense Northland bush killing the two people onboard has been airlifted from the site.
Investigators from the Transport Accident Investigation Commission completed their on-site analysis in the Glenbervie Forest and had the wreckage of the R44 helicopter removed yesterday.
Investigator in charge Sam Stephenson said the helicopter was in dense native bush a short walk from a 4WD forestry road.
"It was in fairly rugged terrain," Stephenson said.
The wreckage was flown to a truck in the forest and would be taken to a secure site for further examination today.
