Having read the lease document between the Whangarei District Council and the Art Museum Trust one must question the Prosper Northland Trust as to how they can substantiate their statement that 'there would be no ongoing ratepayer cost'.
As far as I can understand, the WDC (ratepayers), will be responsible for:
* Rates
* Rubbish
* Fire service
* Insurance (excess $2000)
* Security
* Maintenance and repair
* Provision of toilets
* Maintenance of lawns, gardens and fences.
The cost of the strengthening is now $2 million nine hundred and seventy seven PLUS GST.
Makes the $1 a year for 33 years a joke.
Councillors Deeming, Martin and Halse who abstained from voting and Glen and Mclaughlin who crossed over on the vote have a lot to answer to the people of Whangarei who voted them in on their promises.
