Who in their right mind would try to complete road works at this time of the year and cause build-ups more than 5km long for traffic as per the Advocate report on Saturday?
The poor holidaymakers trying to return to Auckland and points south after an amazingly beautiful summer in Northland? Klarc's Saturday cartoon says it all. Seriously, all you HWC believers, it would just take a trip to our lovely city to view the colourful building and take photos from the outside without spending money to enter then try to return as per Friday and Saturday and get stuck in queues, knowing that they won't want to stop their journey and spend any money. The exceedingly poor road conditions are enough to put anyone off travelling to Whangarei and then trying to return to the south.
What are you thinking? Even travellers passing through have to put up with endless lines of stop-start traffic at the Warkworth traffic lights then just up the road to the Wellsford shambles. Put your minds into improving the railway and getting the large trucks off the roads, they are the ones who destroy the road construction thus having to complete road works at completely inappropriate times.
