Once again Paul Berks makes statements that he doesn't back up with any facts. He states that there have been many attempts to replicate the success that the Guggenheim museum has done for Bilbao which have involved some stunning buildings, none of which, he claims, have succeeded. However, he fails to mention one by name.
Mr Berks admits that Hobbiton (in Matamata) and Kawakawa have done well in attracting tourists and questions the connection between both of those and the Hundertwasser Wairau Maori Art Centre (HWMAC) at the Town Basin. I would have thought the connection was obvious. It is their "uniqueness"that has the ability draw tourists in as in the case of the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao.
And yes Mr Berks I am arguing that their success is very likely to mean that HWMAC will be equally successful.
