Here's a question to ponder: How much does it cost a motorist to drive from Whangarei to Auckland, park the vehicle in Auckland for a while then drive home?

On the bus sitting in air-conditioned comfort I made the journey yesterday for just under $60. How much would it cost the average motorist?

I bought the ticket online, the driver was very polite, and I even had time for a nap during the journey.

I didn't have the hassle of needing a ticket - I just told the driver my name.
