Re: Brian May's concerns over "The Bach Bollards" perceived double standards(!).
To set the record straight as one of "the culprits", we were treated no differently than any other council tenant when we inadvertently breached our lease by repainting six bollards outside our rented premises without permission. We were alerted to this error by the Whangarei District Council property division and immediately began efforts to remedy the breach.
There was no criminal intent or deliberate wrongdoing. The bollards were enhanced, not defaced. I take exception to being compared with a vandal or anti-social tagger and think you're being deliberately provocative.
The inference that my husband's previous employment has some bearing on the matter is nonsense, he doesn't even like Hundertwasser's art very much, but as an informed, intelligent and pro-active citizen/ratepayer he can see the HWMAC is a positive and worthwhile venture.
So to get all your facts right; I am currently the elected chairperson of the Bach Committee and, along with Glenda Ferguson our founder, did the re-paint to promote a children's art exhibition in our foyer and an up-coming inter-school art competition. We will, as individual artists and as Bach members, continue to promote and support the Prosper Northland Trust-funded HWMAC proposal.
