It seems that we have a national emergency mainly on the hands of the National Government who are refusing to acknowledge that thousands of New Zealand children are going hungry every day. In the past six weeks, a further 1000 children have been added to the KidsCan waiting list for school lunches.
It is extremely odd that millions of dollars can suddenly be found to fund bridges in the North when a fraction of that money would feed every hungry child in NZ.
And goodness knows the North have waited long enough for two-way bridges.
Government "slush funds" are quick to be used when it is of advantage to one sector of the community at the expense of all others.
Do the decent thing, John [Key], and pay a living wage so that working people can have pride in feeding their own families and not have the embarrassment of relying on charity.
