Entries close tomorrow for this Sunday's Mother's Day Fun Run/Walk and Pram Stroll in Paihia.Photo/Supplied

What better way is there to celebrate Mother's Day than with a run, walk or pram stroll through Paihia and the Waitangi Treaty grounds?

This Sunday, the Mother's Day Fun Run/Walk and Pram Stroll in Paihia will take runners over an 8km course and the walkers on a 6km course.

Starting in the Paihia Town Centre on Marsden Rd, both courses include the picturesque Waitangi Treaty grounds on the homeward leg of the journey, with the finish line on the newly developed Paihia waterfront.

Organised by Sport Northland, the event will start in waves from 9am, with the runners heading out first and the pram strollers being the last to leave. The event is also accessible to people in wheelchairs with assistance.

Entrants are being encouraged to purchase a Heart Foundation event T-shirt or dress up in a "Go Red for Women" or Heart Foundation themed costume, which will put them in a draw to win one of two iPads.

Sport Northland business development manager Colleen Atchison said: "We expect Paihia to turn red for this event with the large influx of participants who will wear red in support of the Heart Foundation." An array of prizes from Sport Northland sponsors are up for grabs.

All Northland adults who compete in the event will go into the draw to win a Fiat 500 car, which will be drawn following the last event in the Sport Northland Run/Walk Series, the Fullers GreatSights Kerikeri Half Marathon on November 15.

The next event in the Sport Northland Run/Walk Series will be the Newman Engineering Bayleys 2 Dargaville Run/Walk on June 22.
