The North Force under-14 boys team made a strong statement with their recent win, a 7-1 demolition of Manurewa.
Playing away from home, the second-placed North Force side are beginning to apply pressure on Papakura City who sit in first.
Getting off to a steady start last weekend versus Manurewa, two goals came in the first half, one from Jack Williams and another from a nice back heel pass by Brendan Richardson into the path of Conor Jack.
With emphasis on maintaining possession in the first half and finishing their shots on goal the North Force team did well despite conceding one goal.
They dominated the second half, first with Williams scoring a screamer into the top right from a tight angle, then a piece of skill from Malcolm Young who set up Ryan Hay for a goal.
Tom Parker was next on the scoresheet and Malcolm Young had a run on his own and finished nicely in the bottom left after beating the keeper. The onslaught continued with Williams completing his hat-trick with the final goal of the game.
"The North Force boys have worked hard this season," coach Shaun Hacker said. "They deserve to be at the top of the table, we look forward to our toughest game of the season so far this Saturday when we host division leaders Papakura City at Tikipunga, and the pressure now has to be on them not to make mistakes."
