The Kerikeri Football Club has added another string to its bow, winning the submission for the month of September for the Football World Club's Best Practice theme - an initiative which is focused on clubs' fundraising initiatives and commercial partnerships.
The scheme was introduced by the Northland Football Federation (NFF), who invited clubs to share their examples of 'Best Practice' based on the innovative ways they have approached fundraising, sponsorship and grants.
NFF's Alida Shanks congratulated the Far North club and noted that with financial sustainability being a key challenge for most sports clubs, September's Best Practice theme was all about sharing the good work clubs are doing in terms of fundraising and sponsorship.
"Kerikeri's winning entry outlined how the club has put a lot of energy on building strong relationships with local businesses to help support the running of the club.
"By offering the opportunity to be part of a well-functioning club, local businesses not only support the club with funding, but also in other ways such as providing IT equipment, accountancy services and merchandise the club can raffle off," Shanks said.
