Despite leading strongly from the front and dominating the opening two thirds of the match, Burgess says "the ref made a few bad calls, it wasn't so much us missing them (goals), we just weren't hitting our targets as much as we would have liked."
North Force coach and manager Russell Baddeley is impressed with the current 34-man squad and the direction they are heading in.
With the North Force reserve team playing a well-fought 1-1 draw versus Oratia United on Saturday, a few of the wider squad members were given a chance to strut their stuff for the prems team versus Glenfield.
Rising star Sam Mimmo, who added two goals to the North Force premier side's score card, will be one to watch this season.
"We were totally dominant in the first few spells," Baddeley says.
"We were right on top of them. They caught up a bit near the end but luckily we put the foot on the pedal in the closing stages and managed to hold them off."
Baddeley says he is "pretty pleased" with North Force's pre season preparation so far and is looking forward to the regular season kick-off on March 29.
With this season set to be a big one compared to North Force's last few campaigns, Baddeley is sighting big things from the club.
A strong push toward promotion out of division two is the main aspiration as well as the retention of squad members.
The current crop of players are showing signs of implementing this.
"The philosophy is we are one big club," Baddeley says.
"It's very pleasing with the overall talent in the current squad. The first XI are being challenged by the second XI and many players are on the fringe of making the premier team.
"We're pretty much on track with where we want to be."
