A Far North man has been remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to child sexual abuse charges.
James Brian Sanders, 65, pleaded not guilty to 17 charges of indecent assault on a female aged under 12, four of indecent assault on a female aged 12-16, two of unlawful sexual connection of a female aged under 12 and one of assault on a child.
The charges involve seven female children. Eight of the indecent assault charges are representative, meaning that they cover more than one alleged offence.
Sanders' appearance was excused when the case was called in the Kaitaia District Court today and he was was remanded in custody to reappear for on 17 April in the Kaikohe District Court for callover.
