Former police Detective Sergeant Michael Blowers - on trial over allegations of stealing, selling and dealing methamphetamine and cannabis - pleaded guilty to two of the three charges this morning.
Blowers pleaded guilty in the High Court at Whangarei to supplying methamphetamine between June 1, 2011 and June 31, 2012, and a charge of stealing methamphetamine from a police exhibit room on or about October 19, 2011.
A third charge of supplying cannabis was discharged. He was remanded on bail with strict conditions until sentencing on December 3.
Detective Inspector Stuart Allsopp-Smith this morning acknowledged the work of the inquiry team, which he headed, and the guilty pleas from Blowers. Mr Allsopp-Smith said he would make no further comment until after the sentencing.
The jury of seven women and five men was chosen on Tuesday for a trial which had been scheduled to last two weeks. However, the jury was sent home yesterday afternoon and told the trial would resume at 10am today.
