An 18-year-old German national was taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries after the car he was driving, (right) went through a ditch and fence into a farm paddock near Dargaville.
Northland police spokeswoman Sarah Kennett said it appeared the vehicle had rolled and the driver was trapped about 4.45pm on Sunday. The vehicle appears to have lost control on a bend on Arapohue Rd, near Dargaville. Volunteer firefighters from Dargaville were called and chopped off the car door to free the injured man.
St John officers were also at the scene but due to the man's injuries he was taken by the Northland Electricity rescue helicopter to Middlemore Hospital, in Auckland. Mrs Kennett said the man's family had been contacted.
