Tuvaluan students performing a traditional Indian dance lit up the stage at a Diwali celebration held in Whangārei over the weekend.
About 150 people turned up at the event, organised by Hindu religious group Whangārei Satsang Ramayan Mandali at the Whangārei Club on Rust Ave on Saturday.
Vegetarian food and traditional Indian sweets were on offer as well.
Diwali will officially be celebrated today.Northern Advocate reporter Imran Ali was invited to the event last weekend and went along to catch the action.
