A man has died after a diving accident near the Poor Knights Islands off the
Northland coast tonight.
At about 7pm emergency services were advised that a diver had been struck by
the propeller of a commercial dive boat.
A coastguard vessel and the Northland rescue helicopter responded to the
incident, but the man, who had received serious facial injuries, died before assistance arrived.
The boat is returning to Tutakaka and will be met by Police who will conduct an investigation on behalf of the coroner.
