While Northland escaped the brunt of Tropical Cyclone Cook, many places in the region were either inundated with flood waters or roads were blocked by slips.

The mid and Far North were the worst affected by heavy rain, with some places receiving more than 100mm of rain in just 24 hours.

Slips and road repairs will be attended to once the weather clears this weekend when farmers will also get an opportunity to assess damage to their farms from floodwaters.

The Northern Advocate photographer Michael Cunningham, reporter Peter de Graaf and Peter Jackson of the Northland Age in Kaitaia put together a collection of photos from the recent deluge.
