Onerahi Central could not avoid the inevitable as Maungakaramea took match points from their round-one match of the Oxford Trust two-day competition.
Maungakaramea were heavy favourites to come away with the result after a dominating first day, which saw former first-class cricketer Neal Parlane hammer an unbeaten 228 from 211balls in posting 351 for seven.
Not helping Onerahi's cause was their first innings collapse where they were rolled for 99, before showing a bit more fight on Saturday in scoring 172 all out.
Maungakaramea's bowlers shared the spoils on day two, being led by Michael Harris with three for 30 from his 14 overs. Josh Lee was the next best with three for 51, Cody Andrews managed two for 23 from eight while Jason Morgan picked up two for 42.
Showing some fight for Onerahi with the bat were Harry Cooper (66) and Martin Tansley who scored an unbeaten 37 off 82 balls.
Meanwhile, Kaipara Flats also came away with a victory after beating City by 10 wickets at Kensington Park.
Matthew Taylor and Joe Robbins did the damage for Kaipara as each picked up a five wicket haul in the match's third innings. Taylor produced stunning figures of five for 12 off 14 overs, which included nine maidens, while Robbins snared five for 32 off 16 as City were all out for 78.
With the bat, Sam Cloutman was top scorer for City as he scored 18 from his 78 balls faced after opening the batting.
The final round-one Oxford Trust match of the weekend ended in a draw, with Zest Insurance Whangarei Boys' High School coming within one wicket of beating Kamo.
After scoring 182 in the first innings, Boys' High bowled Kamo out for 124 before going on to set them 171 for victory.
Kamo stuttered their way to 91 for nine at the close of play on Saturday, thanks largely by Nick Stobart's figures of six for 39 off 13 overs. Chipping in with two for 21 was Jack Murphy for Boys' High.
