Wet weather on Saturday contributed to a car crash at the Brynderwyn Hills.
Waipu fire chief Trevor Vaile said a car skidded on the wet road and hit a concrete culvert just past the summit on the Auckland side of the Brynderwyns.
The car's suspension and chassis rail were damaged as a result of the impact, he said. The female driver suffered bruising from the seat belt. Firefighters from Waipu and Maungaturoto pulled the car out of the culvert before it was towed away. The car was heading south when the crash happened.
Meanwhile, a car was completely destroyed in a fire at Paparoa sometime on Saturday night. A fire crew from Paparoa went to the scene about 10.50am yesterday before police were notified.
