A decision on whether a motorcycle allegedly obtained from the proceeds of crime by a Whangarei man should be forfeited to the state is expected to be made by the High Court in the coming weeks.
The Crown allege the Harley Davidson motorcycle belonged to Kelly Dodd, 34, who's serving five years and four months in jail for convictions on one charge of conspiracy to supply methamphetamine, three of conspiracy to supply precursor substances, one of cultivating cannabis, nine of offering to supply cannabis, seven of offering to supply methamphetamine, and one each of conspiracy to supply cannabis and money laundering.
Trevor McTavish, 43, who is also serving time for drug dealing, is claiming the motorcycle is registered under his name.
A hearing was held in the High Court at Whangarei after which Justice Christopher Allan ordered both parties to file written submissions.
Detective Sergeant Nina Pedersen said records suggested Kelly Dodd was driving the motorcycle most of the eight times it was stopped by police in 2009 and issued tickets.
