A two-car collision at a Whangarei intersection caused a backup of traffic in the area, police say.
Details were scarce at edition time yesterday but police said they were called to the crash at the intersection of Kamo Rd and Whau Valley Rd about 12.50pm yesterday.
The cars blocked the northbound lane of Kamo Road and motorists were detoured through Whau Valley Rd causing "significant traffic congestion" on the Whangarei street, a police spokeswoman said.
The road reopened about 2pm.
Ambulance and fire crews were also on scene. It was not clear if anyone was taken to hospital.
