People in Kaikohe who have had to travel to nearby towns for an information service will now be able to get that support in the town, thanks to a new monthly clinic.
The Citizens Advice Bureau (Cab) service will soon be available in Kaikohe on a trial basis, as the Far North Cab in Kerikeri plans to roll it out at the foyer of the Far North District Council's headquarters in Memorial Avenue.
From October 8, clinics will run from 9.30am to 12.30pm and continue on the second Tuesday of the month, with a view to becoming a permanent service.
Sandra Kemp, Cab volunteer, said people in Kaikohe currently had to travel to Kaitaia, Kerikeri or Whangarei for the information and advice services.
"Our volunteers can offer free information and advice on a wide range of subjects, including tenancy matters, family issues and consumer rights.
