A Subaru Impreza HX involved in a crash which left a Mazda 323 GT written off was stolen, police say.
Whangarei marketing executive Jordan Priddle was turning right into Mill Rd from Nixon St on October 28 when a Subaru Impreza opposite him failed to give away.
The two cars collided and the Subaru Impreza driver drove off, leaving Mr Priddle's 1982 Mazda 323 GT written off.
Police were given a head start in their investigation by Mr Priddle, who had noted the make, model and registration plate of the Subaru.
Senior Constable James Gibbings of Whangarei police said the Subaru had been reported stolen before the hit and run on October 28.
