There may still be more than five months to go, but the Cancer Society is encouraging teams to register now for the region's famous overnight relay.
Northland's Relay for Life will celebrate its 11th anniversary on April 1 next year, but community fundraising co-ordinator Natasha Buck said there was no time like the present to get involved.
"It's a lot easier if they get the team established before Christmas. We always find in the New Year it becomes a lot harder."
Seven teams had already signed up for the Cancer Society flagship fundraiser.
They will be amongst the hundreds of people aiming to beat this year's impressive effort of $110,000 of donations.
