The organisers of Northland's biggest annual book fair are desperately looking for a suitable space to store and sort many thousands of donated books. The Zonta Clubs of Whangarei and Hatea are pages away from where they'd be at this time of year, only a few months before the huge event in July.
The clubs have been unable to find a suitable warehouse or similar ground floor space in Whangarei, for very reasonable rent for a few months only, to which a truck could back up.
Usually volunteers start sorting collected books in January and packing them into over 100 banana boxes for taking to the sale at Forum North.
"We've had our feelers out everywhere. We have to start sorting the books yesterday, we're way behind the eight ball," Ann Richards said.
Anyone who can help the clubs, which put all the book sale profits back into the community, please call Bev Cowley, ph 4383613 ext 9, during work hours, or 0274440282.
