A call for help from the Whangarei SPCA has been answered.

In February the SPCA appealed in the Northern Advocate for businesses to help rejuvenate its building. Several Whangarei firms have since offered free scaffolding and painting for the Kioreroa Rd centre.

"The shop is looking pretty horrible. It hasn't had any major maintenance in over 10 years and there is even moss growing on the roof," SPCA centre team leader Andrea Honeybun said.

"The exterior of the building is in desperate need of a new paint job. We have some great volunteers who assist when they can, but we need specialist equipment to access all areas of the building." So they had called for professionals.

Jennian Homes has offered to help with scaffolding and painting. Harmony Painters, Laser Electrical, Blastaway Guys, Jonzone and Whangarei ITM have joined the project.

"Jennian Homes Northland is committed to supporting the SPCA for any of their building needs," company director Brett Yakas said.

A thankful Ms Honeybun is looking forward to painting starting shortly, when the weather is suitable. "We really look forward to being proud of our premises again," she said.
