The traditional music of Cape Bretons, the Scottish, Irish and French, along with the instruments used to create it, will be under the spotlight in Waipu.
Nova Scotian outfit Boxwood returns to Waipu for a week-long educational programme for adults and children focused on Cape Breton, Scottish, Irish and French music, from November 8-13, with a final day concert lined up.
The band connects the music to their roots in the renaissance and baroque and connections to dance, language and song, with workshops throughout the week.
They promise five days of musical discovery and fun with David Greenberg (Cape Breton fiddle and baroque violin), Chris Norman (flutes, small pipes), Gillian Boucher (Cape Breton fiddle and step dance), and Shelley Phillips (harp, song).
Boxwood's Finale Concert has become a highly anticipated annual event, featuring jigs, reels, airs, songs and stepdancing from some of Nova Scotia's finest musicians and will be on November 13, from 7.30pm at the Coronation Hall in Waipu.
