Bowls: Hikurangi triple win centre event

The Centre 1-10 year any combination triples were completed last weekend, with 14 teams taking part at the Kensington greens.

Five teams finished the day with three wins and the winning combinations were:

1st: Kelvin Bint, Savanna Lauder, Noelene James (Hikurangi) 3 wins, 30 ends, 65 shots.

2nd: Dan Collett, Darren Mitchell, Don Cameron (Composite), 3 wins, 28 ends, 44 shots.

3rd: John Manley, Phil Morgan, Heather Smeath (Kamo), 3 wins, 26 ends, 49 shots.

Schools event

The Northland Secondary Schools competition will be held at the Whangarei Bowling Club on March 20. Sport Northland are accepting entries via their website. This tournament will be played as singles and pairs for girls and boys. Contact your sports co-ordinator if you wish to enter.

The regional competition for this event will be played in September and the winners go on to the New Zealand finals in December.

Reporting time at Bowls Whangarei is 9am with play starting at 9.30am. Any bowlers prepared to help on this day with coaching or marking would be appreciated. Please contact the centre on 437 3050 to offer your services.

Club champs

The Regional New Zealand Club Championships have been held this week at Kerikeri. Teams from Far North, Northland, Auckland and North Harbour were taking part. Congratulations to all those who have qualified for the New Zealand finals to be played in the Bay of Plenty next month.

Entries are being accepted for the centre junior 1-5 year singles from the centre website, e-mail or entry form in the centre handbook.

Please ensure that you include the name of a marker on your entry form.

Entries are also being accepted for the centre executive fours at Bowls Whangarei on April 8. Entry fee is $28 per team.

This is a chance for clubs to recognise the service given to them by volunteers. This is a club team entry and more than one team can be entered by each club. Please forward entries to the centre office.
