Last weekend saw most clubs playing their first round of club championships.

At Dargaville, the men's championship pairs were won by Kevin West and Alan McKinnon, who took out the title by defeating Mickey Marinkovich and Tom Kerr 21-13 in the final.

At Hikurangi, the men's fours were won by Sam Nelson, Willie Wyatt, Steve Mitchell and Don Cameron, and the women's fours were taken out by Linda Pedro, Betty Mitchell, Mary Brewster and Maureen Rahui.

Tourney change

This weekend, Mangawhai have cancelled their two-day tournament and have replaced this with a progressive Any Combination triples on Sunday. For an entry please contact the Mangawhai men's match committee.

Entries are steadily coming in for the Centre Open Championship pairs to be held on November 2-3. Players are reminded that entries close today.

Workshops

The match committee workshops held recently by the centre operations committee saw 33 people attend and we hope that these evenings were beneficial. Any suggestions for the next workshop?

Clubs are reminded that when playing club championship events, all laws of the game apply. This includes the jack being returned if not correctly delivered by the first player. Correct playing uniforms being worn, correct footwear, an end made dead after the bell being replayed. Domestic rules do not apply!
