An idea that started 18 months ago has come to fruition and a new book - Kowhai & Koru ... the heart of North Haven Hospice - reveals the history of Whangarei's palliative care facility that has helped thousands of people.
The book was launched just before Christmas and hospice fundraising manager Karen Sandoy said the idea started about 18 months ago as the committee were thinking about what to do for the Tikipunga-based hospice's 30th anniversary this year.
"We decided to look through our archives to see what we had achieved and then look at the future," Ms Sandoy said.
"We are very much a volunteer organisation, with more than 55 volunteers working for hospice in Whangarei, so we wanted to look at their work, the staff and wonderful people we have had here over the years."
