Former US President Barack Obama has set foot back in Auckland to prepare for this afternoon's formalities.
Obama was still in his golf gear when he landed in a helicopter at Mechanics Bay in Auckland just before 3pm.
The former president spent the morning golfing with former prime minister Sir John Key at the Tara Iti private course in Northland.
This afternoon Obama will atttened a powhiri at Government House and will meet with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.
Meawhile National Party leader Simon Bridges had a short conversation on the phone with Obama and says the former president described John Key as "a terrible golf cheat" after beating him yesterday.
