The sun beamed down on Waitangi as thousands watched paddlers perform haka and others enjoyed the food and entertainment on offer.
It was a peaceful day of celebrations at Waitangi yesterdayand with more than 100 police on duty over the four days that ceremonies took place, few arrests were made.
The only bit of trouble came when a couple in their 60s were removed from the Treaty Grounds, just after the dawn service, and trespassed for two years after staging a noisy protest.
The day started with the dawn ceremony which saw about 200 people line up to enter Te Whare Runanga, the carved meeting house on the Treaty Grounds, while another 600 people stood outside.
Prayers were offered by Deputy Prime Minister Paula Bennett and Labour leader Andrew Little. Ms Bennett prayed for the strength of personal characteristics while Mr Little's prayer spoke of the need to find strength in our differences.
