Police are wanting to speak to this man in relation to an aggravated robbery of Daffodil Dairy.

Police are wanting to speak to this man in relation to an aggravated robbery of Daffodil Dairy.

Police are investigating after a man armed with a weapon robbed a Whangarei dairy.

The man walked into Daffodil Dairy on Maunu Rd, presented a weapon and demanded money from the person manning the shop.

Police spokeswoman Sarah Kennett said the man grabbed cash and was believed to have fled up Maunu Rd about 6.50pm on Wednesday.

"No one was harmed. We used dogs to try track him but were unable to locate him," she said.

Mrs Kennett said the man was last seen behind the store.

It is not the first time the dairy has been targeted. In 2012, $8000 worth of tobacco was stolen from the store and, in 2008, a man armed with a knife threatened the owner, reached over the counter and grabbed cash from the till before fleeing on foot towards the city.

Anybody who may have seen the robbery or has any information can contact the Whangarei Police on 09 430 4500 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
