It is with a heavy heart that I write the following editorial. The week this goes to print will be the week I am moving to Auckland to begin my next adventure, at AUT University, where I will be studying a Bachelor of Communications. This means surrendering my Youth Editor badge.
To say writing this page every other week has been amazing is an understatement. It has been a blessing. It has been a blessing to be able to hone my skills, and a blessing to find that so many people in Northland have been so supportive of The Youth Advocate as a whole. This is somewhat turning into an Academy Awards speech, minus the golden statuette and sparkly sequinned gown. However, it would be almost offensive for me not to praise the wonderful people who have guided me on this journey. So, here goes ...
To my beautiful family and friends, whose constant encouragement drives me. Thank you for relishing every single column. My love for you is unwavering and unconditional.
Thanks to Craig Cooper, the wonderful editor who has recognised whatever talents I might possess and has allowed me to nurture them. I owe you a debt of endless gratitude. Thanks for taking a risk on a young wannabe journalist. I hope you've enjoyed having me on board. The same goes to my fellow reporters.
An entire spate of good luck to my fellow editor, Liam. Go forth and do great things. It's been an honour to share this page with you.
