Eddie Redmayne's performance as Stephen Hawking has inspired Youth Advocate editor Alice Cove-Smith.

Sometimes in life you receive inspiration, and what you choose to do with it is up to you.

In my case, I received inspiration from the highly acclaimed Stephen Hawking biopic, The Theory of Everything. Actor Eddie Redmayne gave a stunning performance, one that moved me to tears. As he says in the movie: "There should be no boundary to human endeavour."

This touched me deeply because for most of my life I have struggled to truly accept myself.

But Hawking and Redmayne put into perspective that I can do a lot, even with a disability, and that goes for a lot of people too.

We see our lives with boundaries and confines most of the time, but it doesn't have to be this way. We can do it. We can achieve whatever task we set our minds to.

Humans were put on this planet to survive, no matter what your belief system is. And we can survive while - newsflash! - achieving our dreams.

I know I've spoken about this a huge number of times, but that's because I now am starting to truly believe it. Good is everywhere, and the possibilities are endless.

So if I had any advice to give to anyone, it would be this: do what you love, and don't let anyone stop you. Life is short, so make yours a great one.

I spent half my life believing I couldn't do it, and now I keep surprising myself when I do. All it takes is faith, courage, determination, good humour and love for yourself and those around you.

Aim for the skies and target the Moon, and even if you don't get it on the first try, the stars and hidden gems that fall down when you miss are just as sweet and rewarding.
