An unloaded firearm was pointed and fired at a group of school students walking on a Whangarei street to a sporting event.
Police say a group of six students from Whangarei Boys' High School were walking on Manse St to a football game about 2.35pm last Friday.
As they were making their way to the supermarket, before going to the game, a vehicle with two men in it stopped and one of the men pointed what the students thought was a BB gun.
It was fired but no one saw anything come out of the end of the gun.
It's believed the men were in their 20s. However, the incident was only reported to police about 12.30pm the next day. Police have made no arrest and say inquiries are ongoing.
