An acting chief executive recommended by the mayor has started work at the Kaipara District Council.
Peter Tynan from Auckland will fill the position until a new CEO is appointed, likely to be at the beginning of next year.
A qualified accountant, he worked as the chief executive of Southern Cross Health Care until July last year and has already started in his new role at KDC.
Kaipara mayor Greg Gent is the chairman of Southern Cross Health Care.
Mr Tynan's acting appointment follows the sudden resignation three weeks ago of KDC chief executive Graham Sibery after just over an year into the job.
