* Don't pump your mascara wand into the tube - it causes bubbles to form. Dab the end of the wand with a tissue if you have a clump of mascara collecting there.
* Several fine coats look a lot more natural than one thick one. Wait 30 seconds in between coats to allow the mascara to dry properly.
* When you brush the mascara on, use a zig-zag motion instead of a sweep, to separate eyelashes.
* Apply mascara to all your eyelashes, not just the ones in the middle and outer corners.
* Only apply mascara to your lower lashes if they are naturally very fair.
* If you're using a primer, let it dry completely before you apply mascara.
* You can bend your mascara wand to get at smaller lashes, or buy a mascara with a specially-shaped wand to reach them.
* Replace your mascara every six months.
