Ellie Goulding
Lights
4/5
Lights is Ellie Goulding's debut pop album and, unlike many first pop albums, it doesn't feel like it is forced.
This album actually sounds as though Goulding is making the type of music she wants to make, first go.
Her soft voice and music remind me of a slight mix between lead singers from Kiwi bands Goldenhorse and Minuit - which is a good thing.
Her voice is almost angelic and innocent sounding, despite some of the lyrics in the songs being anything but innocent.
Lights is a 10-track album that features a lot of good songs.
My faves are Guns and Horses, Starry Eyed, Salt Skin, Under The Sheets, I'll Hold My Breath and Everytime You Go.
I found myself listening to this album at least 10 times in my car before I swapped it for something new.
All in all, Goulding's Lights is an album you can listen to anytime without getting sick of it too quickly.
