A British opera singer-turned-actor is the latest to join Peter Jackson's $200 million King Kong, which starts shooting in Wellington next month.
Lobo Chan, who has sung in British productions of Turandot, La Boheme, The Marriage of Figaro and other operas, and in BBC dramas including Sweet and Sour, will play a character called Choy.
What Choy will do in the film is still to be announced, but in the original 1933 King Kong, and its sequel The Son of Kong, Asian American actor Victor Wong played a ship's cook.
So far 10 of the cast have been confirmed, including Adrien Brody, Naomi Watts and Jack Black.
About 1000 people, including several from overseas, are also keen to be extras in Jackson's epic.
