Line-up of local she-Js

New Zealand has its own squad of women DJs and Queen St nightclub Fu Bar even holds a regular she-J only club night, Girls Love Bass. The leading female DJs include:

Philippa: specialises in house and will shortly release a mix album through In Music.

Claire Del: Deep house is also the forte of this long-time stalwart of the New Zealand dance scene.

Halogen Girl: aka Emma Gilkinson, favours minimal techno and electro and has just returned from the 2002 Red Bull Music Academy in Brazil.

Siren: aka Amanda Heywood, plays hard house and high NRG trance.

Chelsea: And respect is due to the now-London based Chelsea, the only female DJ to ever win the b-Net award for DJ of the Year. She was one of the original pioneers of the New Zealand dance scene.
