With Bollywood flavour of the year it's hardly surprising we are seeing more of all kinds of Indian music, from traditional to contemporary electronica. This mesmerising double disc - one "For your Mind", the other "For your Body" - weighs toward the latter, with European Indo-influenced acts from the Asian underground.
It's an impressive roll call, too: Kid Loco with the dreamy She's My Lover, Thievery Corporation (the drone of Transcendence), Dan the Automator (from Gorillaz), Jah Wobble (with the pulsing Waxing Moon from his terrific 30 Hertz Collection of two years ago), and Nitin Sawhney.
There is also the great Transglobal Underground with Ali Mullah, featuring the sublime vocals of Natacha Atlas (from their '98 album Rejoice Rejoice), Loop Guru, the always-interesting Badmarsh and Shri, Robert Miles (remember his trancey Children single? Well Release Me here isn't like that) and Fun Da Mental.
There are also lesser-knowns among the 30 tracks but all share a feel for dreamlike drones, the sinuous nature of Indian melodies and the rhythmic possibilities of tabla drums. Oh, and a smattering of dancefloor electronica and funky bass on the second disc to get the hips moving.
